There are several sites of artistic, cultural and archaeological interest which you may like to visit during your stay at Scarabeo campsite.
The ruins of the ancient Greek Kamarina and Caucana are a few kilometres away and can be easily reached (also by bicycle). There is a small but interesting museum in Kamarina where some of the findings are on display (the most important items excavated in the area are to be found in the excellent Archaeological Museum in Siracusa).
The Castello di Donnafugata, a splendid example of Sicilian early XIX century architecture, is set in a dramatic and beautiful landscape and is only ten kilometers away. A visit to this Art Deco building can be arranged.
Those who love Nature would find a visit to the Riserva Naturale, at the mouth of the Irminio river, very rewarding.
The Noto Valley nearby is famous for places rich of Art and Baroque architecture, notably the cities of Ragusa Ibla, Modica and Noto.
